Covert and discovered history 96
Napoleon crossing the alps - Nobody care$
overpainting/decollage/overpainting - Günter Konrad 2013
Commissioned Artwork - Vienna
It was a challenge to translate the existing work from 2013 to the customer's desired format of 200 × 80 cm (landscape) and to re-adapt and revise the work. But, the challenge was mastered and the customer loved the result of the work. The starting point for the revision was the color scheme. This was taken from the original work and implemented in the composition. In addition to the information and wishes to incorporate Rome, the Colosseum and the Roman Forum into the work, I had the idea of creating the work in style, as a modern fresco. To do this, I photographed structures of walls and wall cracks and created a few spatula techniques with plaster as small formats for experimenting. To build up the composition, I distributed these over the picture surface and later painted over them in color. Furthermore, the idea came to me, in order to continue the fresco idea, to incorporate art-historical image material into the composition of the picture. I condensed the composition with raster images, spray techniques, watercolors, collages and decollages. Many details are contained in the picture and let the eye wander to discover something new again and again. here are some details for you.
Thank you for this beautiful order!
